Senior SDET / Quality Automation Engineer - Python & AI

This is a 99% remote role, although, as this is a consultancy position, occasional client travel may be required.

This is a hands-on Quality Engineering role requiring genuinely strong Python development skills, alongside AI, RAG and building RAG pipelines. Experience with data testing is also beneficial. We are looking for an experienced SDET/QAE who can design and build automation frameworks and engineering solutions from the ground up - rather than a manual tester who has primarily used Python for scripting.

Experience

• Advanced, hands-on Python coding - essential
• Strong understanding of core Python concepts and data structures
• Confident working with strings, collections, functions and objects
• Genuine object-oriented programming knowledge
• Able to solve practical coding problems independently
• Comfortable writing clean, maintainable and reusable code
• Live coding: candidates will complete a Python coding exercise in an IDE without AI assistance (no Copilot, ChatGPT or AI autocomplete). You should be comfortable explaining your reasoning and approach as you work.
• Strong SDET / Quality Engineering / test automation experience
• Experience designing and building automation frameworks from the ground up
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Strong LLM, AI, RAG, Langchain skills, with practical experience querying and validating relational data

• Desirable skills: ETL and data testing experience, including data reconciliation, transformation validation and end-to-end data validation across systems
• Experience investigating data quality issues and ensuring data remains complete, accurate and consistent as it moves through systems and pipelines
• Web and API test automation
• Non-functional test automation
• CI/CD and Git-based development workflows
• Experience working across the SDLC with development and product teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills

AI / GenAI

RAG and vector search

• Prompt engineering and LLM evaluation
• Agentic workflows and tool calling
• OpenAI / Azure OpenAI
• LangChain, LangGraph or CrewAI
• Testing AI/LLM-enabled applications
• Applying AI to test generation, defect analysis, quality reporting or engineering productivity

Security Clearance

The role requires Security Clearance (SC). Candidates should either already hold SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it.
