Work Seeker Terms

Last updated: 01/10/2026

Welcome to Walter Everett, a professional recruitment agency providing permanent recruitment services. These terms govern our relationship with you as a registered candidate - please read them before you register or apply. Walter Everett operates as a recruitment agency in accordance with the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, which set specific standards of conduct for agencies like us. For more on these regulations, see GOV.UK.

Your authorisation

By registering as a candidate with Walter Everett, you authorise us to represent you and seek employment opportunities on your behalf. We will only put you forward for a specific role with your explicit agreement each time, and we will represent your experience and interest honestly and accurately to any client we introduce you to. In this process, we may share the following information with our clients:

  • Your identity
  • Address
  • Contact details, including email and telephone number
  • Your previous employment history, including dates and job titles
  • Salary information and expectations
  • Your notice period
  • Your availability for interview
  • Information regarding your right to work in the UK, including related documents
  • Your CV
  • Any other information relevant to the application that may impact our clients' decision
  • Special category data, if requested by our client during the offer stage, for the purpose of verifying your right to work or providing proof of address on their behalf

By registering with us, you confirm your intent to pursue employment opportunities in the sectors we have discussed together.

Data protection and privacy

We do not charge work seekers any fee for our services - our fees are paid entirely by the hiring client. To provide our recruitment services, we need to process your personal data, and we're committed to adhering to all applicable data protection law, including UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for full detail on how your data is handled.

Reference and background checks

Our clients may conduct reference checks, background checks, and DBS checks as part of their hiring process, so any offer extended to you is conditional and subject to satisfactory outcomes. Walter Everett does not carry out reference checks itself, but we are legally obliged to certain standards: if we introduce a work seeker to a hirer and discover within three months that they may not be suitable for the job, we are obligated to promptly inform the hirer. More detail on this rule is on GOV.UK.

Acceptance of terms

Before we arrange any interviews on your behalf, we will require your formal acceptance of these terms. If you have any questions, send us a message.

Jurisdiction

This agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the England and Wales courts.
